F.A.Q.

These are our most frequentely asked questions. If you have a question which is not in this section, please contact us.

Do Turbocristal fan guns produce wetter snow?

No! Our new central module features improved aerodynamics that enable better projection and longer hang time, which insures the highest quality of snow.

Are snow grains from Turbocristal fan guns larger?

Yes--we designed it to be like this. Larger snow grains do not evaporate as much, which means that more snow actually goes on the hills, instead of being taken away in the air. Moreover, larger grains mean better wearing resistance, and they don't turn into ice like smaller size grains do.

Is snow made with snowmaking equipment natural?

Yes--The difference is essentially the suspension time in the air. Droplets from clouds are suspended for around 200 to 300 seconds, while drops from a snowmaking machine are much faster at 2 to 15 seconds in the air, depending on the winds. This suspension time is critical for the physical transformation of the crystals.

Does Turbocristal equipment only work at high water pressure?

Again the answer is No! The new and improved central module enables excellent snow production with all our fan guns at pressures as low as 150 PSI (10 Bars). Don’t just take our word for it--call us for a demo and see for yourself!

Fun Facts

Snowmaking Principles

Snowmaking principles are fairly simple. By atomizing water droplets in cold air, they freeze before reaching the ground. Obviously, this can be achieved easily when temperatures are extremely cold, but more expertise is needed in marginal conditions.
